A new sheriff had been elected - one shot, and his "chaps" were left standing on the street. Billy spied the postmistress and immediately started to lay siege to her heart. From then on he was her devoted slave. But the Big Boss of the town allowed no trespassing on his private precincts. But, he came within a radius of the mule's hoofs and promptly got himself lifted skyward. The Big Boss, thinking Billy was the brave man, sent various members of his gang to investigate, but they all met with the same fate. When the last one sailed skyward, he took to his heels. Billy ordered him out of the town and going over to get his reward from the Postmistress, was introduced, very shyly, to her future husband, the bad man, very much chastened by his sample of mule's kick.
